Undergraduate Students
The Department of Music at CWRU offers undergraduate students a wide range of opportunities for musical study and participation, many of which take advantage of our Joint Music Program with the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Many of our undergraduate music majors combine music with another area of study. You’ll find the workload manageable—our Music (BA) degree can be completed in 6 semesters, giving students the flexibility to study abroad or take a co-op, while completing a dual degree within 4 years. We are one of the few universities to combine conservatory-level training with the advantages of a liberal arts education, and offer the following programs:

– The Music (BA) degree can be combined with any other degree program that CWRU offers: double major/dual degree/secondary major.
– The Music Education (BS) degree is a pre-professional degree that ultimately leads to teacher licensure (this is taken as an independent degree program).
– The minor in music does not require an audition and our many music ensembles are open to all students regardless of major. Music lessons are offered to non-majors for a fee.

All degree programs require submission of the Arts Supplement (digital portfoli0/video audition) and the BS in Music Education requires a live interview/audition as well.
