Klezmer Music Ensemble

The Klezmer Music Ensemble is dedicated to learning and performing traditional East European Jewish folk music (Klezmer Music). This important genre of world music involves a specialized performance style, a unique repertoire, and chamber-music interaction. Classes will consist of two-hour sessions (once a week) culminating with performances to be scheduled at the end of each semester. The ensemble is open by audition to all CWRU and CIM instrumentalists and vocalists. No prior klezmer music experience required.

  • Auditions will take place during the first week of classes.
  • Please email Mr. Steven Greenman <sxg824@case.edu> to indicate your instrument/voice and desired audition time or attend first class meeting.
  • Interested students must audition for the music director with a short musical sample of their choice.
  • This class meets weekly on Thursday from 7:00-9:00pm (Wade Rehearsal Hall).
