Case Western Reserve University’s Vincenzo Volpe placed second in Tuesday Musical Association’s annual scholarship competition. The event was held on March 19 at Akron University, drawing over 100 music performance and education students. Established in 1955, this scholarship competition has allowed students to compete for varying scholarships in brass, voice, woodwind, organ, strings, piano, and the newest category, classical guitar.
Volpe was awarded $1000 for his original performance in the Woodwind category through the Gleason/Rea Scholarship for Woodwinds. Currently a junior at Case Western Reserve University, Volpe is double majoring in music performance for flute and biology. A free concert will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 4 pm for all those who wish to hear Volpe, as well as all of the other scholarship winners. Additionally, at the end of the concert, two more scholarship prizes will be awarded.
