The Music Department at Case Western Reserve University offers a broad range of courses, ensemble experiences, music lessons and scholarly opportunities for undergraduate music majors as well as non-majors. Students majoring in music may earn either a BA in Music or a BS in Music Education, and many students double major or earn dual degrees in music and another field. Through our Joint Music Program with the Cleveland Institute of Music, students have the opportunity to engage in musical research and scholarship at one of the nation’s premiere research universities while pursuing focused music studies at one of its top-tier conservatories. Departmental collaborations with the Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Museum of Art, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and other local cultural institutions offer truly unique undergraduate experience.
The Music Department requires that all applicants to CWRU who intend major in music or wish to be considered for the Arts Achievement Award submit pre-screening audition videos. Students whose pre-screening submissions meet expectations will be invited to campus for a live audition.
