Case Klezmer Music Ensemble

New for Fall 2017! 

The Case Klezmer Music Ensemble is dedicated to learning and performing traditional East European Jewish folk music (Klezmer Music). This important genre of world music involves a specialized performance style, a unique repertoire, and chamber-music interaction. Classes will consist of two-hour sessions (once a week) culminating with performances to be scheduled at the end of each semester. The ensemble is open by audition to all CWRU and CIM instrumentalists and vocalists. No prior klezmer music experience required.

  • Auditions will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 5:00-9:00pm in the Denison Rehearsal Hall (DRH).
  • Please email Mr. Steven Greenman <Greenfidl@sbcglobal.net) to indicate your instrument/voice and desired audition time. An additional audition sign-up sheet is available in Haydn Hall, 201.
  • Students are encouraged to audition even if they cannot attend the rehearsal date.
  • Interested students must audition for the music director with a short musical sample of their choice.
  • The first class meeting willtake place Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 7:00-9:00pm (DRH)
