Klezmer Music Ensemble

The Klezmer Music Ensemble is dedicated to learning and performing traditional East European Jewish folk music (Klezmer Music). This important genre of world music involves a specialized performance style, a unique repertoire, and chamber-music interaction. Classes will consist of two-hour sessions (once a week) culminating with performances to be scheduled at the end of each semester. The ensemble is open by audition to all CWRU and CIM instrumentalists and vocalists. No prior klezmer music experience required.

  • Fall 2018 Auditions will take place during the first week of classes.
  • Please email Mr. Steven Greenman <sxg824@case.edu> to indicate your instrument/voice and desired audition time.
  • Students are encouraged to audition even if they cannot attend the rehearsal date.
  • Interested students must audition for the music director with a short musical sample of their choice.
  • This class meets weekly on Thursday from 7:00-9:00pm (Denison Rehearsal Hall).
