The CWRU Marching Spartans marching band is a spirited ensemble of musicians from all areas of campus, from engineers to English majors. The band also includes the Spartan Silks flag/dance team that includes young women representing a variety of majors. The marching Spartans perform at all home football games and other pep rallies during the fall.
The group rehearses Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and before home games on Saturdays. Even though rehearsal time is limited, the band has been successful in producing lively, entertaining and musical marching performances while serving as a catalyst for school spirit. The emphasis is on having fun within the context of a traditional marching band format.
The marching band is an official class offered at Case Western Reserve University. Participation in the band can fulfill Case’s physical education requirement. It also offers the opportunity for meeting new friends and a release from the rigors of studying and homework.
