CASE CHAMBER MUSIC (MUEN 365)
This is a performance class open to all instruments performing chamber music dating from the 18th Century to the present. All combinations of Woodwinds,Brass, Strings, Guitar, Harp, Percussion, and Keyboard instruments will be considered; repertoire will be determined by available instrumentation. This
class is open to all CWRU students, auditions will be the first week of classes, see audition sign up sheet on webpage.
The course covers rehearsal techniques, group dynamics, as well as an historical, social, and political overview of the composer’s life and work. Adapting, composing or arranging repertoire to fit a given ensemble is encouraged.
This course requires 1-2 hours of rehearsal/coaching per week (tbd) and 1-2 performances per semester, one on campus and one community service project.
This ensemble requires concurrent enrollment in either the Case University Circle Orchestra,Case Camerata Chamber Orchestra, or Symphonic Winds (with the exception of pianists and guitarists).
Auditions: prepare contrasting movements of a solo of your choice and Major/Minor scales and arpeggios.
