Hommage à la Danse Baroque is a concert performance of a Baroque Dance class for musicians led at CWRU by Ross Duffin in 1991. It lasts about an hour and includes one of virtually every type of dance commonly used in baroque music suites. Clavier Magazine called it "an excellent reference source on the musical and social interaction of the 17th and early 18th centuries" and the Eastman School of Music used it basically as a course text in 1995. The Hommage tape is $25.00 plus $3 shipping.

Oberon, the faery prince is a fully-staged production of a masque by Ben Jonson with music by Robert Johnson and Alfonso Ferrabosco, Jr. Because of its early date (1611) the dance types are really more Renaissance than baroque. The dance choreography and direction are by Ken Pierce of Boston with stage direction by Barrie Rutter and musical direction by David Douglass. The show itself is about an hour and there is a documentary of about half an hour following the production. This videotape was very favorably reviewed in the September '94 issue of Notes, by James Cassaro of Cornell University. The Oberon DVD is $60. plus $3 shipping.

Handel's Il Pastor fido was produced at CWRU in May of 1996. This is an unusual Handel opera because, for the third version in 1734, he had the services of Marie Sallé's dance company and so he introduced several baroque dances. The choreography and dance direction are by Julie Andrijeski, a DMA graduate of CWRU who has gained renown for her work in that area. Pastor fido was very favorably reviewed in the December, '97 issue of Notes, by Ellen Harris, author of Handel and the Pastoral Tradition. The Pastor fido tape is $60. plus $3 shipping.
