Cornetto Masterclass

Posted on October 2, 2014

Bruce Dickey, premier cornettist and pedagogue will teach a masterclass at Bruce in Hall 2CWRU on Thursday, October 9th, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in Harkness Chapel. Dickey teaches at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland. His class will include a presentation on basic 17th-century ornamentation and he will then work with various baroque chamber ensembles.

This event would be of special interest to trumpet players, since the cornetto shares a similar mouthpiece with the trumpet, as well as string players, wind players, organists and vocalists. The masterclass is free and open to the public.

In addition to leading the masterclass, Dickey will be performing with Lieuwe Tamming at the Church of the Covenant on Sunday, Oct.12 at 2 p.m.
