Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s baroque orchestra, won a Grammy award this week for an album featuring Case Western Reserve University Department of Music Senior Instructor Julie Andrijeski.

Apollo’s Fire and tenor Karim Sulayman won Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for their recent album, “Songs of Orpheus.” This was the first recording by Apollo’s Fire to receive a Grammy nomination. The album, released on Avie Records in April, features music by Monteverdi, Caccini, and others. One of the tracks on the album features Julie playing a solo violin sonata by Dario Castello (1602-1631).
