The award-winning CWRU Baroque Music and Dance ensembles (Julie Andrijeski, Director) head to Berkeley, California this June to participate in Early Music America’s prestigious Young Performers Festival at the Berkeley Early Music Festival and Exhibition. As one of six college ensembles selected by audition, the CWRU Ensembles will perform a program of music by Elisabeth Claude Jacquet de La Guerre, arguably the most famous woman composer and harpsichordist of the baroque era, and protégé of King Louis XIV. A pastiche of music and dance from Jacquet de La Guerre’s only opera, Cephale et Procris, is the centerpiece for this show starring Sian Ricketts, soprano and assistant director, with Elena Mullins and Corey Shotwell. The concert is on Thursday, June 5, at 11am at St. Mark’s Church in Berkeley, Calif.
