The CWRU Department of Music recently held our annual Concerto Competition, which is open to all CWRU undergraduate students enrolled in applied music study regardless of major. This year’s recital took place on March 24 in Harkness Chapel.
We’d like to commend all of our students for their amazing performance…the competition proved to be a challenging decision as our faculty selected the following winners:
Kieran Aulak, marimba | Concerto No. 1 (Ney Rosauro)
Student of Matthew Larson
Jason Linn, trombone | Concerto for Trombone (Gordon Jacob)
Student of Paul Ferguson
Zoe Ruolin Yang, violin | Concerto in A minor, Op. 53 (Antonín Dvorak)
Student of Carol Ruzicka
Timothy Nicholas, violin | Romance in F minor, Op. 11 (Antonín Dvorak)
Student of Stephen Sims
These students will perform with either the Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra or the Case Symphonic Winds during the 2017-18 academic year. The performance dates will be announced over the course of the summer and will be posted online within our upcoming events.
Congratulations…we look forward to your performances!
