The CWRU Department of Music recently held our annual Concerto Competition which is open to all CWRU undergraduate students enrolled in applied music study regardless of major. This year’s recital was given on March 18th in Harkness Chapel and included 17 soloists, and was adjudicated by faculty members.
We’d like to commend all of our students for their amazing performances…the competition proved to be a challenging decision as our faculty selected the following winners:
David Hsiao, violin
Zigeunerweisen (Pablo de Sarasate)
Christina Liu, violin
Poème, Op. 25 (Ernest Chausson)
Rebecca Pfieffer, trumpet
Concerto for Trumpet (Alexander Arutiunian)

Ann Wang, piano
Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 27 (Ludwig van Beethoven)

Each winner will perform as a soloist with the Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra or Symphonic Winds during the following academic year.
